ALS Athletes Racing Together to Fund a Cure
“My trike changed my life – and very likely prolonged it. I believe it can do the same for others with ALS.”
– Andrea Lytle Peet
What is Trikes for a Cure?
A new Team Drea Foundation (pilot) program to loan recumbent trikes to people with ALS to try, train, race and fundraise for ALS research. In exchange, we ask you to sign up for a race and fundraise at least $1000 for ALS research through the Team Drea Foundation.
How does the pilot program work?
Apply using the application below. Note that in the pilot program, participants will need to pick the trike from Raleigh, NC and return it following your race. For that reason, local applicants, those considering local races, and/or those with clear travel plans to pick up/drop off the borrowed trike will be prioritized. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-considered basis, and subject to availability of equipment. A small fee may be applied for trike maintenance. Need based sponsorships are frequently available.
What race should I do?
Any race that will allow a recumbent trike (you’ll have to ask the race organizers for permission, but we encourage you to take a look at Andrea’s race calendar and consider if one of those would work for ease of dropping off the trike – and it would be fun to race together!
What comes with the trike?
Trike, exit bars, flag, bike computer, trainer, lights. We require you to provide your own helmet and clip-in bike shoes.
