NC License Plate
Can you believe there’s no license plate for pickleball in NC? Think of how popular our sport is, with tournaments popping up all over…you should be able to spot friendly pickleball enthusiasts everywhere you go. Let’s fix this!
Fill out the application below and pay $30 to show your commitment to the NC Pickleball Plate. NCDMV requires us to demonstrate demand by registering 500 PAID pre-orders. If we get there by December 31, 2026, we will apply for official designation and creation of the plate from the NC legislature in February 2027. If not, your $30 will become a donation.
The cause:
The NC Pickleball Plate will benefit a great cause: ALS research. This cruel disease takes away a person’s ability to speak, eat, move (and play pickleball), and eventually to breathe before they die in 2-5 years on average.
The “Acing ALS” NC Pickleball Plate will benefit ALS research through the Raleigh-based Team Drea Foundation, a small-but-mighty nonprofit which has donated $1.6 million to ALS research, primarily to the Duke ALS Clinic and the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI). Our founder, Andrea “Drea” Lytle Peet, was diagnosed with ALS in 2014 at age 33. She is one of only 10% to live longer than 10 years with the disease. She is also the only person with ALS to complete a marathon in all 50 states on her recumbent trike.
To honor Andrea and all those with ALS, the NC Pickleball License Plate will feature a swallow, which is a symbol of HOPE in the ALS community. Andrea has one swallow tattooed on her arm for every year living with ALS — a reminder to live joyfully and appreciate what our bodies can do.

If you would like to personalize your license plate (only 4 letters/numbers), email info@teamdrea.org and we will work with you. The fee is $30 extra ($60 total).
Pay $30 to the Team Drea Foundation. Note that this fee is nonrefundable. If we do not receive 500 pre-orders by December 31, 2026, your contribution will instead become a donation to ALS research.
