Cheer Station Information

Advertise, encourage runners & end ALS…all at once!

Cheer Stations at the RDC Marathon & Half Marathon are a fun and unique way to reach your audience.

Sponsor a Cheer Station and get creative about ways to encourage, entertain, and inspire runners to push through to the finish line (they’ll be grateful to you).

100% of money raised will go to fighting ALS, which means your sponsorship is 100% tax deductible.

All this…and fighting ALS too!

ALS/Lou Gehrig’s disease is a devastating neurological condition. People lose the ability to walk, talk, eat, move and eventually breathe. Death occurs in 2-5 years on average. ALS can strike anyone – 90% of cases have no known genetic link. However, military veterans are twice as likely to develop ALS. Endurance athletes also seem to be more susceptible.

The Team Drea Foundation supports bold, innovative research to find a cure or effective treatment for ALS. The money raised from the RDC Marathon will support Dr. Richard Bedlack, a world-renown researcher right here at Duke University.

When I was diagnosed with ALS at 33, I was given 2-5 years to live. No treatment, no cure. I dedicated my remaining time to fundraising for research so no other families have to endure the nightmare of ALS.

Four years, 5 marathons, 11 half marathons, and 4 triathlons later, I’m still fighting. I created this program to inspire others to do the same. Will you join me?

“Doing a marathon is hard, but living with ALS is harder. Trust me, I do both.”

~Andrea Lytle Peet
